None of us know what the future will bring- so here are some suggestions to help you keep moving forward while you are doing "school at home" for a while. I am hoping that we will all be able to return to school and be back to learning together soon, and that we will be able to perform for our Spring Concerts. In the meantime, I hope you will use this website as a resource, and I will be trying out different ways for you to interact with me virtually.
For 4th and 5th Grade Core Music Students
All of your music can be found on the Core Music tab, along with links to recordings to help you learn the pieces.
Try to set aside 10-15 minutes a day to practice your recorder.
Remember to Practice Smarter! Spend some concentrated time working on the small tricky bits (like we do in class!) Once you feel confident with them, then try playing the whole piece.
Continue working through your Recorder Belt Songs- I will be setting up a way for you to play your pieces for me online so you can continue to earn your belts as you master songs. (More info to come soon!)
Work on the the Spring Concert Music (and remember that you can earn some extra sparkly belts for those songs!)
Ode to Joy- Learn both the A and B parts, so we can perform this as a duet.
Silver Moon Boat Song- We will be playing this on recorder, as well as hopefully adding some mallet instruments and percussion. We will also be singing it.
The Lion Sleeps Tonight- you should all be able to play this on recorder and sing.
String Ensemble at Vista Grande
All of your music can be found on the String Ensemble tab, along with links to recordings to help you learn the pieces.
Try to set aside 10-15 minutes a day to practice your String Ensemble music.
Begin each practice session with some scales: C, G (2 octave), and D are a great choice! Look for the new Scale Sheet that you can print out to practice from.
Remember to Practice Smarter! Spend some concentrated time working on the small tricky bits (like we do in class!) Once you feel confident with them, then try playing the whole piece.
Spring Concert Music:
Gavotte by Handel
Mickey Mouse March
Star Wars
Canon in D by Pachelbel
Make sure you are all comfortable with A, B, C, E, H; Do your best to learn D; Don't worry about F, G (unless you would like to challenge yourself).
And if you would really like to challenge yourself, I have also included the Advanced Violin part.
